iRide.2020.01.02 Repetition

Claude Monet (1840-1926) painted a series of around 250 pictures of the lily pond in his garden at Giverny in France. Repeatedly riding the same route on my bicycle has allowed me to accumulate hundreds of photos of the hills surrounding the Hurricane Valley. Any comparison between Claude and me ends there; however, like he did, I have come to appreciate all the subtle variations in appearance caused by variable light, weather, season, and time of day. It's hard for me to imagine that others might share my appreciation so I do my best to introduce some novelty when I am able.

Today, there was a startling contrast between the color of the light as I set out and the color of the light as I returned. The mountains are relatively slow to change, but quicker changes in the other variables mentioned earlier produces a very different impression.
