iRide.2020.02.02 Kemosabe

Who would not want to visit a burger restaurant fronted by Kemosabe? He shoots straight and he talks straight. Whatever the Stage Coach Grille website says, the Ranger says the restaurant in La Verkin, UT, is open on Sundays. I had luncheon there today with eight delightful ladies. It was a sign of the times that the menu featured two vegan options and that the carnivores in the party were equally pleased with their choices. I had the Impossible Burger heavily seasoned with irony and accompanied by a side of kitsch. Thank you ladies, it was a real pleasure.

I divested myself of the propensity to post-prandial torpor and departed on a bicycle ride. The observant will notice that the tandem is fitted with wheels that are too small for the frame, so I used my regular mount. The temperature was in the upper eighties Fahrenheit (20°C) with a refreshing breeze. I did not change the top I had worn for the luncheon and reflected how the comfort of a well-tailored dress shirt is underrated compared to the saggy, baggy drape of the ubiquitous T-shirt with its deplorable cut and sub-optimal ventilation arrangements.

A high-wind advisory had been issued by NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) and that forecast warned of 55mph (88.5kph) winds overnight and through to the early hours of Wednesday. Some cloud was moving in from the southwest and there was a spectacular sunset. Sure enough, the wind started to pick up after darkness fell. It looks as though outdoor riding may be curtailed for two or even three days.
